This past weekend, my husband and I traveled to Sault Ste Marie, MI for the 9th annual Michigan Paranormal Convention. It’s one of the largest, if not the largest, conventions of its kind in the Midwest. The speakers were luminaries of weird whom I’ve known about or watched on television for years. And I’d say most of the attendees were a bunch of weirdos, myself included. But the thrust of the convention was unexpected and beautiful. And that might have been the weirdest aspect of all.
There were mainly ghost hunting/research/communication related talks. You might think the presenters would just talk about the results of investigations and such but that’s where the surprising bits popped up. That even though they talked about connecting to spirit (from the deceased, time/space continuum, or outer space) via various methods and gadgetry, the most important thing is to put down the gadgets and be present to each other here and now. It was a theme that ran through every presentation and special event. It made me really love being a weirdo.
