resolutions

Resolution: a firm decision to do or not to do something. (oxforddictionaries.com)

I made the obligatory resolutions in January. Give up sugary drinks, eat better, exercise consistently, work on learning French and the banjo, create publishable stories and/or essays, and pursue several other items I’ve long forgotten about. Writing has been the only constant but nothing publishable to date (unless I count these blogs, which I don’t). As for the rest of it, I managed to eke out a few weeks worth of progress at most. The goals entered the resolution graveyard like many of these types of goals do.

But here we are in early May and I’m revisiting these resolutions and my resolve in tackling them and wondering if I’m developing a soft spot for the undead. Because that’s what I fear this resuscitation will become: some ungainly monster that usurps my life. Only time will tell, I suppose.

Anyway, that’s when it occurred to me that I could kill two (or more) birds with one stone by working on this blog. Shifting the focus from avoiding writing a blog like the plague to using the blog as a tool to track my progress for the next year.
